Carry the Load

In February 2023, life changed in an instant when one of our own, a teacher in the Fort Mill School District, was diagnosed with a rare cancer called Angiosarcoma. The journey that followed surgeries, radiation, chemotherapy, transfusions, and countless treatments brought not only physical and emotional challenges, but also the overwhelming financial strain that comes with fighting cancer.

Walking alongside her through this battle, we saw firsthand the heavy weight that cancer places on teachers who give so much of themselves to their students and classrooms. Teachers in our district are facing these same challenges every day—juggling medical bills, the worry of missed work, and the deep emotional toll of illness.

Most recently, she had to make the difficult decision to step away from the classroom for a bit to focus on battling stage 4 cancer. The hardest part of the decision wasn’t only the treatments, but the ache of being away from her school family and students, and the constant worry about finances. Yet, the outpouring of love and support from the school community, family, and friends became the inspiration behind this foundation.

That is where Ruck & Roll was born. Together, as educators and friends, we felt called to take that inspiration and create something lasting, a way to give back and stand beside teachers in their fight.
Our mission is simple: to come alongside teachers, help carry the load by easing financial strain, and provide encouragement so no teacher ever feels they are walking this road alone.

What began with one teacher’s journey has grown into a shared movement of compassion and support. At Ruck & Roll, we stand united for our educators....because together, we carry the load.
